New OVAC Football Commissioner Selected

Upon the announcement of Don Zinni, who retired as the OVAC Football Commissioner in November, the conference's executive board has announced that Dave Clutter, Zinni's assistant for over a year, has been appointed to the role of commissioner effective immediately.

A 1967 Wheeling High School graduate and 1971 graduate of West Liberty State College, Clutter officiated football in both Ohio and West Virginia for 38 years including five Super Six assignments and one Ohio State Championship Game during his career. Clutter has some ideas he'd like to work on for the football officials groups, but realizes that they might not happen overnight. One such idea is a way to identify officials as OVAC officials.

Clutter is eager to begin as chief of OVAC football officials. Mr. Zinni has agreed to take an advisory role should Clutter have any questions and to help ease the transition and keep things moving as seamlessly as possible. Zinni's mentoring position will be a great resource to Clutter should it be called upon as he has nearly two decades worth of experience in the position and Mr. Clutter is thrilled to have the benefit such knowledge at his disposal.

Clutter will be hitting the ground running as schools are sending in their 2013 football schedules for which he will have the responsibility of assigning officials' assignments to them by late April and then onto the schools' athletic directors to start the contracts. The schools are required to have their schedules to the OVAC by February 1.
